Hi, My Name is Shaggy (by Kimberley)

I am not a sensitive or a medium. In fact, I don’t even know the difference. The role I play in the BCP team is webmaster, and I am by no means an expert on the subject. I wanted to share with you my short ghost story, and I hope our readers will tell us theirs.

I have always been afraid of basements, and not sure why. When I moved into the house I live in now, I kept feeling something or someone. To reiterate, I am not a medium or a sensitive, but an ordinary person who pays attention to strange things that happen. One evening, I went to the basement to retrieve some boxes from the back of the basement. I passed, as I always did, my kids’ plastic painting table and chair. The chair was moved out from the table, and I pushed it back in, telling myself that I’m going to remind my own kids to keep that chair pushed in, and how tired I am of putting their things away. I retrieved my box from the shelf, turned around, and the chair was out again. It wasn’t out very far, so I assumed that when I pushed the chair under the table, it bounced back. I pushed it back under the table one more time, went to get another box, and turned to find the chair out about four inches again (estimating the distance of course).

At this point, I can’t even begin to tell you what I felt. I knew there was something or somebody close. Fear or anger set in, and I screamed “Get out of here!” as loud as I could, and I marched upstairs, leaving all the lights on and not returning until daytime. I never had another feeling or incident again in my basement. Years later, I would find out that I did the right thing by ordering them out. In hindsight, I felt whoever or whatever was there was being playful, but I’m like Shaggy from Scooby Doo, so I’d rather not pal around with the paranormal.

That is my story. It’s not over the top, and it certainly isn’t worthy of a movie, but it was my experience. I believe we all have had one or two. Some choose to share, and some choose to ignore.

If you want to share your experience, please post it to our website’s Tell Us Your Ghost Story page. We want to hear YOUR ghost story.
